Welcome to Leadership Camp

An intensive, but fun, 3-week program that gives alumni campers a chance to learn leadership skills while enjoying the camp environment they know and love.

Leadership Camp is a way to develop skills, make lasting friendships, and give back to the next generation of campers. It is a fantastic opportunity to learn to serve as others serve you.

As Leadership Camp ends, you may also be invited as Support Staff for the following weeks of camp. Your Camp Leadership Team will work toward your goals every step of the way.

Stepping into the role of support staff at My Camp is a big step, it may feel like you are working harder, excited about some things but struggling in others. But we promise this could be the best summer you have ever had.

When does Leadership Camp start?

Leadership Camp starts on July 1st at 11:00 am and ends on July 5th at 1:00 pm. Rides are available for some in a limited capacity, first come, first serve. Because of the 4th of July Holiday, Leadership Campers who prefer to be with their families will be allowed to leave after lunch around 2:00 pm and requested to be back on July 5th by 9:00 am.
Those who are nominated to continue the program as support staff will be invited back on the following Sunday at 4:00 pm to sign in.

What should I expect from Leadership Camp?

Your 5-day camp experience will have morning training, learning the systems that help keep camp running, and afternoon sessions with age-appropriate fun. Evening sessions will be dedicated to emotional care with a fun evening activity afterward.

Am I automatically signed up for Support Staff if nominated for Leadership Camp?

Sadly, no. Leadership Camp is a test run to see if a Leadership Camper is ready to be a Support Staff. Being a Support Staff can be a fantastic experience, but it can be physically and emotionally taxing. We do not want to set anyone up for failure if they are unprepared for the task.

Could you let me know what you're looking for to nominate someone to Support Staff?

To be considered for Support Staff, a Leadership Camper must show the following:
  • Willingness To Learn - Am I trusting the Leadership to learn new skills and trust them to correct when needed gently?
  • Willingness to Listen - Am I aware enough of what is happening around me and not creating distractions?
  • Willingness to be Open - Am I aware of the power of my own story? Am I willing to share it safely?
  • Inclusion - Am I making space for everyone, Staff and campers, or am I hanging out with the same people? Am I only making room for my wants?
  • Follow Through in a Task - Do I follow through on a task when asked and finish it? Am I asking for help when I need it?
  • Physical and Emotional Safety - Am I a safe person for others to be with? Am I safe with my body and my words? Would you like me to encourage others to do the same?
  • Leadership in Person and Online - Am I setting an example with my words and actions on social media and in person?
  • No Illegal Activity - Under no circumstances is Support Staff to partake in substance use, alcohol, CBD, vaping, smoking marijuana, or any form of illegal activity. Directors may request a drug test with a guardian's permission if necessary.
